Howver, seeing it in black and white still shocks and angers me greatly.not only should nearly all the salaries mentioned be immeadiately cut in HALF, but, many of these ridiculous positions, and in some cases entire departments, should be eliminated entirely.Redundancy is the apparent norm of LA City management. with 43 of those salary page listings belonging to the LAPD alone, one has to wonder if we may have too many special police departments and special officers, too many police officers in general, and what we should eliminate from those areas as well. For example, is it really necessary to have a special police department dedicated to the transit system alone? do we really need a special MTA/RTD police force at all? why have a special transit police force when the LA County Sheriffs Department allready performs most of those functions at great expense to the LA tax payers?Other examples of unnecessary police over spending is the special school systems police department, and the special downtown bicycle police. do we really need to keep the school children under armed survelance at all times? if there is ever a problem at one of the schools the regular police department can be there to take care of the situation within minutes, ditto, ditto for the downtown bicycle police as well. These cuts alone would save millions. 6. Police departments, even in this current low-crime, relatively uncorrupt phase of the NYPD, have earned some deep distrust.
