Content Writing
Conveying information is one of the main forces behind any website, and at the end of the day this is one of the most crucial aspects of your website and many of the different elements that may go into it. The content that you find on your website is what will help to convey the information that you want to put across to your clients. When it comes to writing, websites are far different from traditional writing as you now have a target audience and a specific voice to write in. You have a limited amount of words to draw in and keep the attention of your readers.
Content writing is all about knowing your target audience and how to pinpoint them specifically. Firstly you must understand your client, their needs and the message that they are trying to convey to their audience. You must be able to speak in their “voice” and to portray the type of appeal that they want to give to their clients, and to chop and change between the different clients that you are dealing with.
You must remember that your target audience on the web is far different than that of any other publication and in many situation this means that you need to write for people who are going to scan your articles and your writing rather than perhaps reading the entire way through it. Complicated lingo and long sentences will lose your audience, so stay focussed and target your audience in a way that grabs their attention.
In addition, you need to focus on what the reader wants to know and not bore them with intricate details – this can be done further into the website, when people who want to know this information have clicked through to it.
You need to understand your target audience and know what they are looking for, so in addition to writing you also need to research a basis for your article. Take on board what your clients have to say, they are often your best source of feedback for your work.
